Bringing Light To Dark Places
This past week I have been participating the in 4-in-4 Project. The concept is for each participant to create and document 4 different, stand alone projects in four days. While my first three projects did not reach completion (and therefore, are only documented on the 4-in-4 website) the final piece was fully completed and, to my thinking, worth reposting in my blog.
On day four, I returned to exploring my Moire Dress from last Spring. In it, I explored the moire pattern through shadows, video feedback, the context of patterns, and projection. My final method, which I did not have the time to explore, was shining light out from the dress. So, to finish the 4-in-4 series, I thought I would finish the Moire exploration.
Thus came the question: How do I shine light out? After some thought, I decided to create a garter to mount a series of LEDs on.
The process was simple: collect lacy trimming, elastic, and LEDs to sew together.
