Major goal was to keep a simple layout and minimize unnecessary content. The header was simplified to only include points for immediate action.
Domainful is a service allowing users to register domains via SMS. This project was to develop the web portal for managing domain registration and accounts. Focus was on simple, friendly interface emphasizing icons and custom input functionality.
I created photoshop mockups with icons designed in Illustrator. I coded the HTML5 and CSS front end with bits of JQuery to allow customizing radio buttons and other form elements. Required elementary familiarity with Ruby to plug site into the Ruby back-end.
Alert boxes were designed to be unobtrusive focal points for both information and alerts. Form elements, such as the login button, were given lopsided, almost cutout style designs to mirror the casual style of the logo.
The registration wizard was an important point for not overwhelming users with too many form elements on one page while managing expectations with how many pages they would have to complete before finishing their account activation. The arrow stylings give a sense of direction as well as progress.
The account control panel was a major point of concern: to create a layout that would not overwhelm visitors. Ghosted icons indicate options without being painfully redundant as they would be at full alpha levels. Color is a major point in highlighting areas of concern, particularly for domains that are about to expire.
